Bollywood Actor Arbaaz Khan

Arbaaz Khan was born on August 4th, 1967 in Mumbai. Well his family does not need any introduction; probably every person in this is a Bollywood star. His father is the great Bollywood writer Mr. Salim of the yesteryears famous hit pair of Salim-Javed who have written the script of Bollywood biggest hit movie ever ‘Sholay’. His brother is the Bollywood super brat & super star Salman Khan while his other brother is producer-actor Sohail Khan. His mother’s name is Salma Khan while his step mother is the blue eyed beauty of the 60’s & 70’s Bollywood actress Helen.
Since his entire family was involved in the Bollywood Film Industry it was a natural progression for him to get involved in the same activity. He made his Bollywood debut in the movie ‘Daraar’ that released in 1996 that was directed by one of Bollywood best known directors Abbas-Mustan. The movie turned out to be a minor success and Arbaaz received good reviews for his acting. In the movie Arbaaz plays the role of married person who just cannot control his anger against anything and always ends up beating his wife named Priya (played by Juhi Chawla). One day she gets fred-up of his cruelty and runs away from the boat. But actually she leaves him and heads to Shimla where she meets Raj (Rishi Kapoor). They gradually fall in love and just as they are going to get married Vikram (Arbaaz Khan) get to know that she is alive and reaches Shimla. He received the Filmfare Award for Best Villain.
Throughout his career Abraaz has appeared in a number of films, finding success on a few occasions but generally he hasn’t found big time success like his elder brother Salman Khan. With his debut movie ‘Daraar’ being successful he started receiving Bollywood roles. In 1998 he starred in his home production movie ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’ that was directed, produced and written by his brother Sohail Khan. This movie had a wonderful star cast, apart from Arbaaz Khan there was Salman Khan, Kajol and also is one of the new movies that has Bollywood original hunk Dharmendra. The story is a cute love story revolving around Salman Khan & Kajol.
Kajol happens to be the younger sister of Arbaaz who wishes to go to the city for further studies where she meets a naughty but affable Salman Khan. Suraj (Salman) wins Muskaan’s (Kajol) heart but now would have to win over her brother Vishal’s (Arbaaz) heart too so that he can ask for her hand. It’s a lighted hearted movie with Salman playing pranks and Arbaaz trying to test whether or not he can take care of his sister. The movie was liked and raked in good response from the box office.
But despite two early successes his later releases have been disappointing to say the least. Right from 1998 after the success of ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’ till 2003 he had a string of mediocre film releases most of which bombed at the box office and Arbaaz didn’t taste any major success. Right from the Bollywood movie ‘Mehndi’ that also release in 1998 to films like ‘Hello Brother’, Jeetenge Hum’, ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’, ‘Yeh Mohabbat Hai’ and ‘Soch’ that was released in 2002 all these expect ‘Mehndi’ were all box office disasters. ‘Mehndi’ was a social issue movie dealing with dowry and his co-star in the movie is actress Rani Mukerji.
After 2005 though Arbaaz has had better luck with his releases. Films like ‘Malamaal Weekly’ and ‘Bhagam Bhag’ both directed by Bollywood leading comic movie director Priyadarshan and both the movies were released in 2006 and both the movies incidentally found success at the box office. The success of the twin movies might have come as a respite to Arbaaz who in 2007 starred in another Bollywood box office success ‘Shootout At Lokhandwala’ produced by Ekta Kapoor. The film moves to the offices of former chief justice turned private prosecutor Dhingra (Amitabh Bachchan) where he interviews the three leading members of the Mumbai Police Anti-Terrorist Squad, Additional Inspector General Shamsher Khan (referring to A A Khan, played by Sanjay Dutt), Senior Inspector Kaviraj Patil (Sunil Shetty) and Head constable Javed Sheikh (Arbaaz Khan). The main film timeline is the extended interview of the three officers by Dhingra; as the officers answer Dhingra's questions, the film flashes back to show the incidents. Rakhi Sawant also played interesting role in this movie. He also acted in 2003 movie 'Kuch Na Kaho' directed by Rohan Sippy and co-starring with Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and Satish Shah.
Dhingra asks about the Anti-Terrorist Squad. Khan explains that he hand-picked 27 of Mumbai Police's best enlisted men and officers. He borrowed the concept from the LAPD SWAT team to help combat terrorism in the city. The film flashes back to show Khan selecting his men and putting them through intensive training to be "fast, efficient and deadly". Dhingra is hardly impressed: he points out that if Khan chooses to "shoot to kill" then Khan is no different from the terrorists he seeks to destroy.
Dhingra asks why Khan felt he had do this. Khan explains that following Operation Bluestar in 1984, several Sikh terrorists fled to Mumbai and began establishing a base in the city. They engaged in violence, extortion and other subversive tactics to grow their operations. The film flashes back to show Inspector Abhishek Mhatre (Abhishek Bachchan) pursuing and subsequently getting shot down by a group of Sikh terrorists. Khan is deeply frustrated when the city police, mired in internal bureaucracy and corruption, fails to act. He obtains clearance from the police commissioner Krishnamurthy (played by the real A A Khan) and sets out after the militants. Khan asks Meeta Matu to cover the incident so as to deter future terrorists. True to Khan's words, he successfully "encounters" (a practice mistakenly considered unique to Indian Police; it indicates summarily gunning down criminals; 'extra judicial killings' is the term accepted internationally) the terrorists who had shot Inspector Mhatre.
At this point the film segues into the life of Maya (referring to Mumbai gangster Mahindra Dolas though the film never mentions "Dolas" specifically; played by Vivek Oberoi). Maya is the second-in-command of the big boss in Dubai (a clear reference to Dawood Ibrahim though the film does not mention his name at all) and runs Dawood's criminal activities in Mumbai. (It is worth noting that the film does not establish a connection between the Sikh terrorists and Dawood.) Maya recruits Bhua (referring to Dilip Buwa, played by Tusshar Kapoor ) after successfully hatching a plot to eliminate Bhua's old gang led by Ashok Joshi. At this point, Maya and Bhua are at the top of Mumbai's underworld, reporting directly to the big boss in Dubai..........
Arbaaz is married to one of India’s top most looking gals Malaika Arora Khan and the two have a son who was born in 2003.
