Bollywood Movie Baghban

This is another of the epic sagas to have come from the house of B.R. Chopra. Baghban is a Bollywood movie released on October 3rd 2003. Baghban has been directed by Ravi Chopra and produced by the architect of Bollywood golden ear B.R. Chopra. The movie brought together for the first time after 1983 Amitabh Bachchan & Hema Malini. The tagline of this movie is – Can you depend on your family? Well this movie shows you cannot and shows it in ample manner. This role that has be played by Amitabh Bachchan & Hema Malini in this movie is a one in a lifetime role, and not everyone gets to do it. Amitabh Bachchan & Hema Malini were the lucky two to have played these to characters. The movie was very much praised by one and all and led to tears in people’s eyes was to what children of today are behaving with their own parents. It happened to be a major box office success all over the country.

The movie’s plot is simple but the consequences and happening are very draining emotionally. The films is the story of one Raj Malhotra (Amitabh Bachchan) & his wife Pooja (Hema Malini) and their four sons Ajay (Aman Verma), Sanjay (Samir Soni), Rohit (Saahil Chadda), and Karan (Nasir Khan). Raj is happily employed person in one of India’s leading private commercial banks. All through his life he and his wife made sacrifices so that the kids could enjoy more and live life to the fullest. Raj also has an adopted son Alok(Salman Khan) whose education Raj and Pooja looked after on their personal expenses. Today Alok is well settled and living abroad with a nice fat income. Life is full of happiness for the Malhotra’s as during the summers their kids who are now married keep visiting them and so do the grandchildren along.

Then there comes a time when Raj has completed his career at the bank and has to retire. Upon retiring the couple think that they have spent a long time living here alone and maybe it would be a good idea if they stayed with their kids and shared their lives with the kids now. The only hitch is that the kids do not want their parents to come over and live with them. This comes as a surprise to Raj & Pooja. It is finally decided that the parents would be living on a rotation basis for 6 months each at each of their kids house but separately as that would be the best way get ride of their parents and then send them back for good. They make financial obligations and stressed life styles as the reason for keeping their parents apart. But Raj and Pooja are so much in love with each other even today that separation will not be a happy situation for them. But they agree to their kids decision and unwillingly go separately to their children’s home who all live in different cities.

There at their kids homes they are badly treated and come to know that their kids to do want them. A lonely Raj finds few friends at a near by restaurant and spend quality time with them. There he starts writing a book titled ‘Bhagban’. He then calls up call his wife Pooja and tells her to meet him at the same place they met forty-one years ago. The couple unties and decides not to return to their respective children’s home. Raj writes to complete story of his life as it happened and publishes it, the book is superbly received and Raj is awarded a handsome price for his work. The money is enough for the two live their lives independently and with honor. Raj and Pooja upon meeting their kids at a ceremony to honor Raj disown their four kids and walk straight past them not even noticing them.
