Bollywood Actor Bobby Deol

Bobby Deol’s name by birth is Vijay Singh Deol. His birthday falls on January 27th 1967 and was born in Mumbai, India. His entire family is filled the who’s who of Bollywood’s celebrity list. His father is the dashing hero of yester years Dharmendra Deol and his brother is the Bollywood action hero Sunny Deol while his mother’s name is Prakash Kaur. His step mother is the gracefully Hema Malini and his step sister’s are Bollywood actress Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. He was found to date with bollywood actress Neelam.
He first faced the camera when he appeared for a small role where he enacted a younger version of his father in the action hit Dharam Veer. He then made his adulthood Bollywood debut in the movie Barsaat that was directed by well known director Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by his father’s banner ‘Vijeyta Films’. This movie kick started his career in 1995 and gave him a flying start by toping number 6 on the movie charts for full year collections. The leading lady for the movie was Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of yester year’s super star Rajesh Khanna and the gorgeous actress Dimple Kapadia. His next Bollywood movie, Gupt: The Hidden Truth made by Rajiv Rai. This movie too proved to be a hit and was the 5th biggest grosser of that particular year and two successive hits seemed to have established his career very well. He was the new rising star and his face cuts along with his hair do as the topic of much hype in the coming times.
Then all of a sudden things started to slip out of control for this ‘Deol’ boy. His next movie Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya did not fare well and thus began a series of not so good films and in between he managed to deliver a few successes that let his career stay afloat. His next project should have turned out to be a major success, Kareeb, a film made by none other than Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the master of beautiful directions and a person who chooses his film locations to perfection. It was the making of a perfect recipe for a successful Bollywood movie but even his Midas like touch couldn’t ensure the movie’s success. But the saving grace for him that year was the moderate success of Solider starring Preity Zinta. It was an action packed movie on the sidelines of soldiers betraying their country for the want of money and then Bobby finally takes revenge for his dad’s innocence.
Success few and far between and mostly failure came before success. In 1999 for the first time ever he stared in a movie with his real brother Sunny Deol in Dillagi. This movie was Sunny first attempt at directing a movie. The movie too do didn’t to well at the box office and missed chances kept creeping up until 2001 when Ajnabee having a cast of Bollywood stars like Bipasha Basu, Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor hit the screens. The movie ended his miserable run of flops and gave him a new lease of life in Bollywood. But the media still kept writing him off and that’s none of their fault. In Bollywood you are as good as your last hit and that too is forgotten soon as new movies hit the screen every weekend. In 2002 he had four releases and one of them Humraaz was a big hit giving him further confidence that he can survive in Bollywood. This movie gave him a nomination for Filmfare Award for Best Actor. He also stared in a movie portraying freedom fighter Bhagat Singh for which he received nation wide acceptance and acclaim. He also acted in "Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai" which is a 2006 Indian romantic musical film directed by Bunty Soorma and starring himself, Arjun Rampal and Amisha Patel.
One of his recent releases of 2007 – Jhoom Barabar Jhoom along with Abhishek Bachchan and Lara Dutta opened to packed houses but couldn’t sustain its dream run although it fared very well internationally. Some of his forthcoming films include Roshan, Heroes, London Dreams and Masters all slated to be released in 2008. So we can all keep our fingers crossed for this handsome dude, Punjab da Puttar to find all the success that has eluded him thus far. Bobby is married to Tanya Ahuja and has two kids. The elder one’s name is Aryaman and the 2nd son’s name is similar to his father’s name – Dharam.
