Bollywood movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is a Bollywood that was released in the year 1999 on 18th June. Celebrated and versatile Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has directed and produced the movie. The movie has a stellar star cast of Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Ajay Devgan, Vikram Gokhale, Zora Sehgal and Vinay Pathak. This was a super commercial success and its songs were chart busters. The film bagged the top honors at the Filmfare Award for Best Movie, Best Director and Best Actress (Aishwarya Rai). The story of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is the depiction of the main characters of Nandini (Aishwarya Rai) & Sameer (Salman Khan) who happen to meet in the beautiful mansion of classical singer Pandit Darbar (Vikram Ghokle), where he resides with his entire family consisting of his wife (Smita Jaykar) their daughter Nandini (Aishwarya Rai). It is a complete joint family where there are uncles, aunts, nieces & nephews, kids and even a grandmother (Zohra Seghal). Sameer comes to their place that is set in the Runn of Kutch in the Indian state of Gujarat. He wants to learn the finer points of India classic music for Pandit Darbar and Pandit Darbar does oblige. Nandini is asked to vacate her intricately decorated room so that the visiting guest can stay there comfortably which does not please Nandini. Sameer understands that and keeps playing pranks on her all the time while also taking music classes from her father, his talent and his will for music impresses Nandini. With the onset of the festival season Nandini and Sameer are often together and starts coming closer until they both realize that they are in love. One day the two are caught red handed practicing their wedding vows while dreaming of they’re further together. Once the news reaches Pandit Darbar he is very furious with both of them and orders Sameer to leave his house immediately and tells him never to return to this house and to Nandini’s life as well. Sameer does vacate the house but does not leave the town and keeps writing to her that he is waiting for her to come to him so that both of them can leave from here together. Unfortunately these letters never reach Nandini and she is made to think that he has left for good. Nandini’s parents had already seen a good earning boy for Nandini and he happens to see her at a wedding reception at their house and ever since has fallen in love with her. Vanraj (Ajay Devgan) is not aware of what happened between Nandini & Sameer. After Sameer left Nandini has been in a shell-shocked situation and is not that cheerful any longer, as Vanraj has seen her earlier. On their wedding night Vanraj finds that Nandini is not very enthusiastic at their wedding night. Soon he discovers the reason behind Nandini’s cool response to his love and affection. He finds letters, which Sameer had sent her. He loses his temper at this discovery. That’s understandable. But one hero has to sacrifice if ‘true love’ has to win. So, Vanraj decides to sacrifice his love. They decide to go to Italy to find Sameer. They reach Italy and keeping look for a Indian musician named Sameer all over the music stores, music libraries and hotels to have one link that will lead them to Sameer so that Nandini can be untied with the person she really loves. But during all the searching process Nandini starts liking Vanraj for his sincerity and for taking such good care of her. She realizes that despite being her lawfully wedded husband Vanraj has never approached her with the intention of touching her. In the end when they finally get to know that Sameer is performing at the Opera House for the 1st time and go to meet him it is then that Nandini realizes that her life now belongs to Vanraj and not Sameer. When she meets Sameer she has nothing to say or feel and Sameer also realizes that now Nandini’s happiness lies with her husband Vanraj. It is a classic tale of love lost and found but with the passage of time love also changes.
