Bollywood Actor John Abraham

He is the most eligible bachelor in Bollywood. This handsome hunk, son of a Keralite father and a Parsi mother could put to shame the Greek God Adonis with his chiseled Parsi features and the tall athletic muscular body of a athlete from Kerala. He was born in Mumbai of 17 December 1972.

Abraham studied in Bombay Scottish School. He attended Jai Hind College and was a very active sportsman. He captained his college football team. He completed his education to earn an M.B.A from Mumbai Educational Trust. After his MBA he became a media planner. It is believed that his boss suggested one day that John Abraham start modeling. He decided to take a shy at the Gladrags Supermodel of the Year. He won the contest and was selected for the International Manhunt where he bagged the second position. This astounding success brought him fame and glory. He did many assignments abroad. He did a lot of music videos. Chupke Chupke brought a lot of fame and film offers in the wake. However, then the actor was not sure of jumping into the fray. There is also a feeling in the Bollywood that models cannot act. John Abraham had the examples of Arjun Rampal and Dino Morea. He took acting classes in the Kishore Namit Kapoor acting laboratory in Mumbai and decided to take the leap.

He got his first break in Jism. He received a nomination for the Filmfare Best Debut Award for his performance in Jism. What was different about Jism was that it gave a chance to the actor to display his acting skills also in addition to his looks. After Jsim, Saaya and Paap followed. Both the films failed to do well at the box office. But Bollywood had now taken notice of John Abraham. By now it was evident that the actor was heading for bigger times in the days ahead.

The year 2004 proved to be a landmark year in the career of this Bollywood actor. Dhoom was one of the greatest hits of the year produced by Aditya Chopra son of Yash Chopra. John Abraham plays the super smart thief who manages to outsmart the police all the time. The super stunts of the movie were mind boggling. John Abraham became synonymous with his bike and all the youngsters wanted to have a bike and ride it too like John Abraham. The music was great with virtually the entire nation rocking to the tile song “Dhoom Machale”. This number could be heard blaring at all the discothèques in the nation. The other actors in the movie were Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and actress Esha Deol.

In 2005 the actor was seen in Kaal. This horror movie although did not do so well at the box office, it displayed the acting talents of John Abraham. Along with it came Garam Masala, a great movie on the lines of an English Classic, Boeing Boeing. The plot was great where Akshay Kumar and John Abraham play buddies hoodwinking their girl friends. The movie with a plethora of lovely young actresses was a hit with Bollywood fans. John Abraham also established himself as the ideal actor for supporting roles.

Then came an unusual experiment which any newcomer would dare not have attempted. John Abraham acted in the Deepa Mehta film Water. The movie is about the plight of Indian widows. At the outset it would have been clear that such a movie would not succeed commercially. But yet John Abraham took the risk of taking on this venture. His role of a Brahmin in love with a widow was superb. This earned him a lot of critical acclaim. This film was nominated in the Foreign Film Category for the Academy Awards which was a great achievement for John Abraham. It also exposed the actor to international audiences. John Abraham took part in the Rockstars Concert along with a number of other Bollywood stars. His career graph was on the upswing. And just then came Taxi No 9211 with another great actor, Nana Patekar. John Abraham and Nana Patekar play enemies till the very end when the circumstances force them to become great friends. The two make a great team and it was possibly one of the most hilarious Bollywood movies. His other movies in the year were Baabul and Kabul Express. Kabul Express was also an unusual kind of movie focusing on the state of happenings in Afghanistan. Then came Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal which is the story of a football team based in England. Arshad Warsi was his co-star in this film with good comedy.

In 2007 he acted in "No Smoking" along with Ayesha Takia and Paresh Rawal. This film was shot in Mumbai, Russian Federation, Kazakistan and Siberia.

Romance life of the actor has been most talked of. He is learned to have looked after Bipasha Basu when she was admitted in a hospital. The media titled John Abraham as Florence Nightingale of Bipasha Basu. The romance between the two is growing form strength to strength. He has got Dostana, Little Zizou, and Aashayein lined up for 2008. Watch out for him.
