Bollywood movie Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna or KANK as the movie is famously termed as was released in the year 2006 is directed by Karan Johar and produced by Dharma Production a company owned by Karan Johar himself. The star cast of this movie had two of the biggest superstars of Bollywood acting in it, Amitabh Bachchan & Shahrukh Khan. Besides that the female stars cast too was most impressive having both Rani Mukerji & Preity Zinta along Bollywood heartthrob Abhishek Bachchan and Kiron Kher. The film explores the issues of extra marital affairs and adultery. This movie had been made more to tap the international market for Bollywood movies rather than for Bollywood consumers residing in India. And that’s that exactly what happened, the film was a success internationally and in the United States it became the highest grossing Indian film of all time, beating Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham's five year old record. In the United States it grossed over $1.3 million and $1.4 million in the United Kingdom on its opening weekend. In India too it proved to be a box office hit. The motion picture tells the romance of two families - Talwars & Sarans. While Talwars have a family head in Samarjit Singh Talwar (Amitabh Bachchan) and his son being Rishi (Abhishek Bachchan), Sarans have Kamaljit Saran (Kiron Kher), mother of Dev (Shahrukh Khan). Both the sons are already married and have beautiful wives in Maya (Rani Mukherjee), Rishi's wife while Rhea (Preity Zinta) is Dev's wife. Both these couples are faced with their own set of problems in their married life by the way of expectations, desires & frustrations, this leads to many disturbances in their lives due to which the relations have deteriorated to the situation that they are not good talking terms. Thus there is a time that each and every member of the 2 couples starts doing their own jobs to lead a life in their own privacy. Dev starts dating Maya as his wife Rhea is professionally very successful while Dev is not as successful. Rhea wants him to look smart and dress up according to her high profile job but he is not comfortable and wants to be left alone. Dev met with an accident that has ended his football career and now he is completely unhappy with the state of his life, when he happens to meet Maya his is completely relaxed and being with her makes him happy. Both Samarjit & Kamaljit are aware of the fact that their sons are not happy in their married life and get together to find ways to spark new enthusiasm into their kid’s married lives. Maya incidentally too is handicapped by some ailment but does not share it with Rishi. Rishi on the other hand is very much in love with Maya and is quite found of her as well. But a difficult situation comes his way when he realizes about Maya's handicap. Frustrated and depressed, he has his violent fits that further draw Maya away from him. Maya & Dev give in to a dash of dreams, coffee tingling romance and accept the truth that they love eachother immensely. But once at a ballet Dev is made to feel jealous that Maya is sharing some light moments with Rishi, at that instance he feels that he wants to have Maya all for himself and will not share her with Rishi any longer. This realization brings them to a dramatic point of no return and they sleep together. Then they have self introspection and return to their own respective homes and confess their extra marital affairs to their partners. Then Maya & Dev speak on the phones, telling eachother that all is well at home when actually their both married lives are in completet ruins. 3 years later upon meeting eachother they get to know the truth and they finally untie for good.
