Bollywood Movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham is a blockbuster Bollywood movie released on 14th December 2001. The movie has been directed & produced by Karan Johar for whom it was his second movie after the hit Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The star cast of this movie had in it some of the biggest Bollywood film star in it including Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, Superstar Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Jaya Bachchan, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor & Rani Mukerji in a guest appearance. It climbed up to 3rd place in the British box office within two weeks of release, and maintained its place for over 3 weeks. In India too it was the biggest blockbuster of the year and Jaya Bachchan won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress while Kajol won Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Yashvardhan "Yash" Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan) and his wife Nandini (Jaya Bachchan) have two lovely sons in Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) & Rohan (Hrithik Roshan). Rahul receives more love as compared to Rohan despite he being an adopted son but his fact is not known to Rahul, while Rohan is many years younger than Rahul. Yash Raichand happens to be a super rich Indian business man, very warm hearted but is a man of princples, likes following traditions and is strictly against love marriages. When Rahul returns home from overseas in London, he meets Anjali, a sweetshop owner's daughter, (Kajol) and falls in love with her. Pooja (Kareena Kapoor), Anjali's little sister, and Rohan also become friends as well. Yash has tried to pass on to his sons the values, the heritage and the rich traditions of his family. Nandini on the other hand has different dreams and aspirations for her sons. But more so Rahul as she shares a special bond with him. But ever since Rahul himself found out at the tender age of 8 years it has been the reason for his unending devotion and gratitude for his parents - especially his father. Yash decides to get Rahul married to his friend's daughter, Naina (Rani Mukerji). Rahul, however, tells his father that he wants to marry Anjali; this angers Yash. Rahul upon seeing that Anjali’s father (Alok Nath) has died goes ahead and marries Anjali. Yashvardhan "Yash" Raichand is completely furious with Rahul and tells him that he can leave the house immedeately & disowns him. Rahul leaves and wows never to return. Nandini asks Rohan's nanny, Sayeeda (Farida Jalal), to go with Rahul to take care of him during his needs. When Rohan learns that Rahul has left home he too is devastated but as he is young he never knows the reason for the events. Then some ten years after the incident Rohan one day overhears his paternal & maternal grandmother discussing the whole issue of Rahul. Rohan learns from the that what actually happens and they tell him everything. It is from here that he decides to reunite the entire family. Rahul has started his own business and is living comfortably with Pooja, Sayeeda and Anjali and their nine-year-old son, Krish. Since its been 10 year long Rohan has grown up a lot and is now a handsome young man. He reaches London and gets to know Pooja and tells her that he needs a home to stay in a foreign place like London. She takes him and request’s Rahul to provide him shelter. Rahul is in no mood to oblige but Anjali loves the fact that he is an Indian so they all pursuade Rahul to let him live and Rahul ultimately agrees. Rohan from that time onwards keeps speaking of India their motherland and how he enjoys living with his parents and all things pointing to a family tie. None know that Rohan is Rahul’s brother but then it is Sayeeda who somehow manages to findout that who Rohan is. Rohan then asks Rahul to come back home but Rahul is stubbron and says that his father shall not accept Anjali as their own. But then things begin to fall in order when Yash realizes that he only brought Rahul home and now he is not accepting Rahul himself. Nandini plays a big part in making Yash realize the same and in the end all of them unite as a Family. It's all about loving your parents... is what is the theme of the movie.
