Bollywood Actors, Actresses And Movies
Bollywood Actor Kader Khan

Kader Khan

Bollywood consist of vast list of actors and actresses and out of them perhaps only few have achieved fame and fortune- the successful amid this glamour race. Amongst these names there are few actors who have established themselves in several niches in Bollywood industry -be it acting, direction, writing scripts and dialogues. But has this industry given them their due credit? Perhaps they are forgotten as character artistes or written off with a movie or a role. Ah! They are unsung hero of our industry indeed.

One such name that rings in your mind is Kadar khan. He is the man with a square face and eyes who emotes comedy and tragedy with equivalent efficiency. He initiated his struggle in the industry as a character actor in small roles like lawyer in Daag and got recognized as dialogue writer with amazing response to his power packed and substantial words in Roti. This was perhaps the brightest twist in his life when people had started identifying him with good scripts and dialogues.

He has done all he could to provide us with entertainment and yet offering great values through his dialects. An angry father, a wise grandfather, a malicious cunning guy, a roadside blind beggar or a plotting brother all these characters suited him perfectly to the hilt. He had a splendid way of expressing his thoughts in words and was amazingly a master with ethical Urdu language, hailing from Pakistan was perhaps the reason for his being adept with words and vocabulary.

People are often intrigued about his strong dialogues, scripts and his vulgar comedy performances with actors like sridevi, jeetendra, Dharmendra, Gulshan Grover, Anupam Kher, Amrish Puri, Prem Chopra, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Shatrughan Sinha and Shakti kapoor. Little do they realize that is where the versatility of the actor lies, instead of recognizing him as a genius critics have written him off as a man of past decades? If a great versatile actor tries his hand at distinct subjects why remember him for his worst performances? Why can’t people appreciate him for the most memorable dialogues of bollywood hits like laawaris, Naseeb and Amar Akbar Anthony?

The great character actor has worked with many actresses and is well known for offering his experience to young performers in bollywood. He has acted as mentor to great actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Aamir Khan, Sunil Dutt, Sunny Deol, Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Mohnish Bahl, Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor and Govinda. The decade of eighty and early nineties has been the most successful part of his journey in bollywood. That was one time where every third release was either scripted by him or had him appearing in some crucial role in the movie. May be overexposure to his talent made him the bulls eye for critics and audience?

The commanding voice of a father asking his son to behave ethically is most often performed by none other than Kadar khan. The magical yet wise style in his voice was quite exceptional as compared to other performing artistes of that era. He commanded obvious respect amid his colleagues, where few appreciated his writing skills whilst others loved him for his comical roles and intense performances in movies. His long journey of performances in more than 200 movies proves his credential as an actor and great performer in Bollywood. He has performed some of his most memorable roles with his colleague Shakti Kapoor and Asrani. Some of his good work as a performer and dialogue writer can be seen in movies like Khel Khel Mein, Benaam, Suhaag, Coolie No.1, Khoon Pasina, Khuddar, Justice Chaudhary, Deewana Mastana and Adalat are just to mention a few.

Even now when his work and dialogues are no longer in demand you can still locate him doing teeny weenie comic roles in commercial movies. He has even tried his hands at television serials like Hasna mat, though it did not get any successful twist for him. He even acted and write for southern movies but we guess the era of his dialects and comedy is all in the past now. The actor is presently not well enough from about late 2007 as he met with an accident and was admitted to the hospital.

After contributing so much to bollywood it is not Indian cinema that awarded him for his value but American Federation of Muslims from India that recognized him for his toil and service to Muslim community in India. When we see great actors and actresses like Rishi Kapoor, Dharmendra, Rajnikanth and Hema malini receiving lifetime achievement award at Filmfare I generally think “Aren’t our character actors more deserving for this award as it is them who have formed the basis of Bollywood”?
