The movie's star cast includes some of the biggest names in Bollywood, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, Aishwariya Rai along with Tusshar Kapoor & Atul Kulkarni. The plot of this movie was not a great one but the story telling and scenes are wonderful as one can expect from a Rajkumar Santoshi film. What more all the characters are present there throughout the movie sequences thus making it a must watch movie for audiences.

The movie has a simple beginning where in DCP Anant Shrivastav (Amitabh Bachchan) is given the task of making sure that a dreaded terrorist in Iqbal Ansari (Atul Kulkarni) is taken safely to Mumbai from Chandangarh where he can testify against his own terrorist organization. Obviously he would have escorts with incase a situation arises. The escorts happen to be police cop Shekhar Sachdev (Akshay Kumar), young middle class rookie officer Ashwin Gupte (Tusshar Kapoor) and a coupe of inspectors more. It is imperative that Iqbal Ansari's terrorist organization gets hold of him before he spills the beans about their activities and hires Yashwant Angre (Ajay Devgan) who is a former cop and today is a ruthless killer. Shortly Mahalakshmi (Aishwarya Rai) groups with them, Mahalakshmi is the only person to have had a view of Angre. Now that they are ready to leave they are aware that the terrorist organization would have made plans to kill them all on route to Mumbai so that there is no evidence against them and therefore the police van carrying Iqbal Ansari is a fully loaded armored vehicle.

Actually Mahalakshmi has been plotted by Angre to see that this team of cops carrying Iqbal Ansari does not reach Mumbai, but this reality is not known by anyone in the team. The trip turns into survival when the team is attacked at multiple times. There are bombs exploding while they are going through a village, and this is where DCP Anant Shrivastav sees that Angre is the one who is behind all the various attacks on them. They manage to flee that place and make it to a deserted cottage in the mists of a forest but as it turns out that their enemies surround them all and their enemies are in far greater number as well. Without the consent of DCP Anant Shrivastav & Ashwin, Shekhar mounts a challenge on the enemies. During the gunfire exchanges out of sheer frustration Ansari finally spills the beans there itself tells everything he knows of the police, politicians and underworld nexus and tells them that his own men are out there to kill him. By this time their enemy has closed in on them considerably and they feel they are not safe here. Angre & Mahalakshmi manage to kill Shekhar.

This killing infuriates Anant and he wants to have Angre dead or alive. He finds Angre and there is an instant tussle between the two, so much so that DCP Anant Shrivastav needs to make use of his medications during the fight, alas he manages to win over Angre and Angre is fruitfully captured. The last scenes show Angre being put to trail by the courts and is punished, as he is being sent to the prison, he find that a nut in his handcuff is lose and he can get away from the handcuff. Angre reacts quickly and steals a constable's rifle and point it towards the near by Ashwin. But then Ashwin tells Angre that he has been set up and that there are no bullets in the gun and the nut was left lose intentionally Angre face goes pale. Angre is there and then shot by Ashwin who the shooting as an encounter.
