Bollywood movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is a Bollywood movie of romantic genre that was Karan Johar’s directorial debut and he also produced this movie. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai released on 16th of October 1998 and starred the likes of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Salman Khan & Rani Mukerji in pivotal roles while Anupam Kher, Reema Lagoo, Farida Jalal and Johnny Lever also played their part in the success of the movie. The movie was at that time only the second movie in the history of Bollywood films to have won of the top for honors at the Filmfare awards – the best movie award, best director, best actor and the best actress. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was the highest grossing movie of 1998 with making Rs.500,000,000 in India. Movie starts by showing Rahul Khanna (Shahrukh Khan) and the tomboy Anjali (Kajol) are students at St. Xavier College. They are the best of friends. Both them and a host of friends keeping sharing jokes and playing pranks on each other. Rahul is a handsome college student and girls are inevitably attracted to him but on the contrary too loves the attention he get from the females in the college and is always on the look for some girl that he can call his love interest as, where as Anjali his pretty happy with her tomboy looks and think she doesn’t need to look feminine to have Rahul as a friend he will always be her friend no matter what happens. Principal Malthora (Anupam Kher) is the head of the college and has a pretty daughter Tina (Rani Mukerji) who is joining this college after a stint at the Oxford University in the UK. Many Bollywood actresses such as Twinkle Khanna, Tabu, Urmila Matondkar, Aishwarya Rai, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor were offered the role of Tina, but turned it down. Tina is highly sophisticated and very feminine too. For the moment Rahul looks at Tina he is smitten by the gorgeous looks of Tina. Anjali and the gang make friends with Tina upon her arrival to the college and Rahul starts playing pranks on Tina, which Tina is not impressed with. Rahul does not stop and tries to impress Tina with his actions and suddenly Anjali is left thinking that what is it about Tina that Rahul likes so much. It makes her realize that apart from friendship she other some youthful feelings for Rahul. She then dresses up like a female and puts on makeup to impress Rahul but they all laugh at her then Rahul has love feelings for Tina about which he tells Anjali who is left heartbroken by this confession and cannot tell Rahul that she loves him. Anjali leaves the college immediately without informing any of her friends. Tina and Rahul get married and Tina while giving birth to a daughter who is also named Anjali dies in childbirth. Tina had understood why Anjali changed her clothing style and why she left so abruptly, she knew Anjali loved Rahul. But had previously written a series of eight letters. Every year, on Anjali's birthday, she is given a letter and hears her mother's loving wishes for her. In the eighth and last letter, the little girl is told about her namesake. Junior Anjali (Sana Saeed) now wants to reunite the older Anjali with her father so that he can have a new wife and she can have a loving mother. Junior Anjali goes to the summer camp set on a hill station where older Anjali is taking classes at the summer camp. Junior Anjali goes there with her grand mother (Farida Jalal) without informing her father. Rahul reaches there unaware that he will meet his college friend Anjali there. As the summer camp draws to a close Rahul and Anjali cannot ignite any attraction for each other though there are some feelings. Anjali is about to get engaged to Aman (Salman Khan) and now wants to get settled in life. When the Rahul visits there Aman can sense that there is a connection between Rahul and Anjali. In the end Rahul does ask the older Anjali for her hand and to marry him. Thus comes to an end a gripping saga of love gone lost and life comes a full circle and gives you back your love and your life.
