Bollywood Actress Lara Dutta
Lara Dutta is a popular Bollywood actress and also has various titles backing her up including the Miss Universe 2000, Miss India-Universe 2000 and UN Goodwill Ambassador. Lara Dutta was born in the year 1978 on April 16th. She was born at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, India. She started her carrier at the age of 16 as a model and basically she set her goal to be the Miss India and then the Miss Universe. At age of 21 she achieved what she aimed at. Apart from being crowned as the Miss Universe in 2000, her answers were scored the highest in the history of the pageant. Since the winning of title, offers from Bollywood were flooding over her when she tried out some radio hosting at New York along with modeling. Two doors were open to her after the pageant; one was to join politics where as the other to join films. As she was pretty young for the former, she stepped into the latter and has achieved all stardom now. The first film which brought her into the limelight was Andaaz for which she bagged the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. Lara finds the modeling to movie jump was pretty easy except with the culture shock due to the family which she belong to. Lara has been designated as the Goodwill Ambassador of UNFA and she is also known to be the youngest ambassador. She is involved in solving teen issues and such problems come under her invigilation as she is the youngest. Lara also works on other aspects related to “Missing Campaigns”, reducing male-female ratio, female infanticide and related aspects. She also would like to promote something of her own where she is into a documentary on human trafficking by joining hands with MTV. Lara is also confident that she will surely achieve what she should be by helping people especially women and help them touch success! Lara Dutta belongs to a well-groomed family where her father named L.K Dutta is the Retired Wing Commander and her mother is Jenifer Puddi and she is from Britain. She is accompanied by her two sisters, one among them being in the Indian Air Force and the other sister is popular actress. Lara along with her family was transferred to Bangalore in the year 1981 and it was from there she completed her high school at St.Francis Xavier Girl’s High School. She is also a graduate in economics along with a minor degree in communication which she attained from Bombay University at Bangalore. Her modeling career started off when she was sixteen years old and the turn out point when she won the Gladrags modeling competition in India. This opened up the doors for her to compete in the Miss Intercontinental pageant in the year 1997 where she was triumphant in attaining the first place. Later, she stepped into Femina Miss World and then to Miss Universe. She was successful in each and every step taken by her. The Miss Universe pageant was held at Cyprus and she had tough competitions with Spain, Venezuela, Canada and USA. She was marked to be one of the highest scoring models in the history of the Miss Universe contest which totaled to be 9.99 marks. She is also honored as the second Indian Miss Universe after Sushmita Sen who was crowned in the year 1994. India saw the great wisdom in the pageants as the titles of Miss World and Miss Asia Pacific was bagged by Priyanka Chopra and Diya Mirza respectively. Thus, India was crowned with a triple victory which is pretty rare in the beauty contests. Her entry into the film industry was a mere success and she has great projects on the way. Some of her box office hits include Masti in 2004, Kaal in 2005, No Entry in 2005 also starring Anil Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Esha Deol and Bipasha Basu. Another of her movie Partner in 2007 along with Govinda, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif was also hit. Bhagan Bhag is also a notable film which did quite well in the year 2007 starring Lara Dutta. Jhoom Barabar Jhoom starring Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Bobby Deol was her first movie released in the year 2007 and was a great success overseas even though it did not do well in India. She received a lot of compliments as part of the movie even though the movie did not come up to the expectations. In all, Lara Dutta could be summarized to be a personality who loves to be in the crowds and walk across the streets like a normal person and also to contribute for the well being of the society.
