Bollywood Actress Neha Dhupia

Neha Dhupia was born on 27th August 1980 in the south Indian port city of Cochin. Neha Dhupia’s father is a Indian Navy Commander and his name is Commander Pradip Singh Dhupia while her mother’s name is Manpinder Singh Dhupi. Neha did her pre high-school education from Vizag and thereafter she enrolled into the Army Public School. Neha has a brother too whose name is Hardeep Singh Dhupia.
She started her career at the age of 19 years and her first assignment was as a TV serial, ‘Rajdhani’ that was produced by none other than Bollywood producer Bobby Bedi. Neha then decided to join the modeling world while doing some TV serials in between along with numbered appearances in plays. She then started to appear in music videos for major music bands like she did Euphoria’s Shanana & Apocalypso-Sanchaita Ghosal's Jaagi Hoon Main for Universal PolyGram. And her TV advertisement list is even more impressive with ads being done for the likes of National, Reebok, LG, Pepsi, Gillette, Meena Bazar, Maruti & Mitsubishi Lancer, an impressive list undoubtedly.
Among her other major achievement is her featuring in a lead role in an Indo-Japanese movie titled –
Margo Miss Beautiful Skin. In the year 2002 Neha competed in the Femina Miss India beauty contest and won the Miss India Universe crown, this win gave her the chance to represent Indian at the Miss Universe Contest held in 2002 where she did her country proud by reaching the top ten position.
Miss India contest winners have made it a trend of sorts, the first complete at the India level competition then those who qualify for the international competition inevitably end up acting in Bollywood flicks. Her first Bollywood movie was Harry Baweja’s ‘Qayamat: City Under Threat’ that released in 2003 and gave this beautiful Indian actress a resounding start to her acting career. It was an action packed flick with slick & chic girls like Isha Koppikar and debutant Neha Dhupia acting along side the macho men of Bollywood movies such as Sunil Shetty, Sanjay Kapoor, Ajay Devgan and Arbaaz Khan. It was a multi-starrer movie that found good success at the box office. But she gained nation wide popularity when she starred in the hot and happening movie ‘Julie’ and gave her the status of a Sex Symbol. Neha has starred in some really bad movie but in between she has chosen the right movies as well and these good movies have kept her career in Bollywood afloat. Movies like ‘Rakht’, ‘Miss India’, ‘Sheesha’, ‘Siskiyaan’ and other have been no showers and are better to be forgotten.
But she has acted in some good movies that are worth mentioning, after the success of her debut movie her next box office came in 2005 when she starred in the movie ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ starring a string of new actors looking to establish their Bollywood careers like Tusshar Kapoor, Ritesh Deshmukh, Isha Koppikar and herself. It’s a movie about 2 young boys trying to find rich girls as their love interest so that they do not have to strive to have a luxurious life. The movie is an out and out comedy which was like by the audiences and proved to be the unexpected hit of that year. In the same year she acted in another comedy movie but this time she was cast along with two of Bollywood’s established actors, one the versatile Akshay Kumar and the other being the dashing John Abraham in the Bollywood flick ‘Garam Masala. This too was a comedy movie and had the cash registers ringing.
In 2006 she starred in the Priyadasrshan directed movie ‘Chup Chup Ke’ where she plays the role of being the sister of a deaf & mute Kareena Kapoor whose love interest in the movie is Shahid Kapoor. This move too did well at the box office and brought Neha much needed success. She has also acted in the action movie ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ which released in the year 2007.
Undoubtedly she is a beautiful actress but beautiful gives you no marks when it come to acting, she can act too but she really needs make the right choices to move up the ladder of success in Bollywood movies.
