Bollywood Actor Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor was born to well-known Bollywood personalities Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh on September 28th, 1982 in Mumbai, India. He is the forth generation of actors from the Kapoor family. His father Rishi Kapoor has starred in over 100 Bollywood movies during his career and still continues to appear in select movies, while his mother Neetu Kapoor too was a Bollywood actress of fame but after her marriage to Rishi she quit acting. He is the grandson of the legendary Raj Kapoor and the great grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor.
Like many of the current Bollywood actors and actresses Ranbir too attended the famous Bombay Scottish School for his primary education. He is a sort of sports fanatic and like cricket, which is the favorite sports of every Indian; he also has interests soccer and chess. After completing his schooling he attended the Le Strasberg Institute for higher studies. For sure with his great looks and his family being a prestigious Bollywood clan it must have been hard for Ranbir to attend college in the normal way that other students do. At the same time he must have really enjoyed all the attention especially that of the females.
But belonging to such a famous Bollywood family it would have been natural to become an actor. His cousin sister Karisma Kapoor has been a leading actress of her time and another cousin sister Kareena Kapoor is one of the most attractive female actresses of Bollywood today. So in ways more than one, Ranbir had to become an actor and that’s what he did.
At a past film award ceremony his father Rishi Kapoor made the announcement that Ranbir will be acting in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next titled ‘Saawariya’. But prior to signing and acting in his first Bollywood movie, Ranbir has been associated in the making of few movies under his home banner RK Films and Studios, in 1996 the movie ‘Prem Granth’ was directed by his uncle Rajiv Kapoor. The films star cast had Shammi Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit and Rishi Kapoor while Ranbir was the assistant director for this flick. Then in 1999 another RK films release was there in the form of ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalen’ starring Aishwariya Rai & Akshaye Khanna. Ranbir was the assistant director and his father Rishi Kapoor was the director. He was also the assistant director in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali made ‘Black’, which was a smash hit.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali also directed Saawariya. The movie had special significance for Bollywood; it was for the first time that Sony Pictures, a major Hollywood production company was co-producing and distributing a Bollywood flick. It was also the debut movie of Ranbir Kapoor (son of Rishi & Neetu Kapoor) and Sonam Kapoor (daughter of Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor). The movie revolved mostly around Raj played by Ranbir Kapoor and Sakina played by Sonam Kapoor. The movie also stars Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Rani Mukerji. Raj is a free heart, a singer and a painter and lives life where it takes in search places that inspire him to create beauty on his canvas. One such night while searching for something inspirational he chances upon a girl standing over the bridge. He gets inquisitive. There after starts the love story of the two and how they manage to stick together under various circumstances is what the movie tries to show. Though the pre-release promotion was very good mainly because its music and today’s marketing tactics make it easy to hype any movie but when it was released it could live up to the expectations of the audiences. Thought Ranbir’s acting was very much appreciated and many accolades came his way. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
