Bollywood Actor Randhir Kapoor
Personal Fourth generation Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor was born on February 15, 1947. Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor are three sons of Raj Kapoor. Randhir Kapoor was the eldest son of Raj Kapoor. Kapoor family is very famous in the profession of acting from many years. His nick name is Dabboo and he knew Hindi and English. His family remained a part of Bollywood film industry for many years. His wife, Babita is also an actress and his daughters Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are current stars of Bollywood. Randhir and Babita were college fellows and liked each other. Babita and Randhir joined the profession of acting. After marriage according to the Kapoor family she had to left acting. After a short period they separated and Babita took their daughters with her. Babita encouraged her daugheters for acting despite the tradition of Kapoor family. Although they faced some scandals but both Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are successful in the field of acting. Randhir Kapoor keep an eye on them and guides them about technical aspects and about the selection of films. Career Randhir Kapoor made his debut with Kal Aaj Aur Kal which was released in 1971. In this movie his wife, father and grandfather performed together. This movie was not very successful but after it his two movies got great success. The first film was Jawani Diwani with Jaya Bachchan, which was released in 1972. This movie was the biggest hit due to its music and performances. The second successful movie was Raampur Ka Lakshman with Rekha in the same year directed by Manmohan Desai. Both these movies were great hits at the box office. He directed Dharam Karam in 1975, which was a failure. He performed in many other movies such as Chacha Bhatija, Kasme Vaade, and Pukar. He won Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. Except Jawani Dewani Randhir Kapoor remained unable to give a single hit movie in which he performed the leading role. His other hits were with major Bollywood stars in which he did not perform leading role. After 1984 he left acting and started his career as a producer and director along with his father. Henna was the first movie which was directed by him in 1991 after the death of his father. Raj Kapoor was directing this movie with his son but he died during the production. Randhir Kapoor completed it and won Filmfare Best Director Award. He produced PremGranth in 1996 which was directed by his younger brother Rajiv. In 1999 he produced Aa Ab Laut Chalen which was directed by Rishi. After that in 1999 and 2003, Randhir Kapoor performed in Mother and Armaan respectivley. In this way he worked and got experience in acting, production and direction in Bollywood film industry. Randhir Kapoor worked with almost all the actors and actresses. But it was a bad luck for him that he himself was not much successful although Kapoor family is the part of Bollywood film industry. In May, 2007 Randhir Kapoor appeared on television chat show Koffee with Karan where his brothers and sisters also appeared. On television chat show he shared his memories with others family members and enjoy it. Filmography Randhir Kapoor performed in many films but unfortunately he was not much successful. He was successful only in the roles of supporting actor. He performed leading role in many films but remaind failure. Then he worked as a producer and director. Some hit movies in which he performed are Armaan, Mother, Khazana,Humse Na Jeeta Koi, Pukar, Sawaal, Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai,Harjaee, Biwi-O-Biwi: The Fun-Film, Dhongee, Aakhri Daku, Chor Ke Ghar Chor, Kasme Vaade, Chacha Bhatija, Kachcha Chor, Mama Bhanja, Bhanwar , Aaj Ka Mahaatma, Bhala Manus, Dharam Karam, Dil Diwana, Hum Rahi, Jawani Diwani, Jeet, Raampur Ka Lakshman and Kal Aaj Aur Kal etc. Randhir Kapoor also produced some movies including Aa Ab Laut Chalen, PremGranth , Henna, Ram Teri Ganga Maili. He also directed Henna, Dharam Karam, and Kal Aaj Aur Kal . Randhir Kapoor acted in 45 films and now he is busy in the affairs of R.K. Studios and films. Randhir Kapoor worked as an actor and director with his father Raj Kapoor. Raj Kapoor was a legend in Bollywood and his work was carried on by his son Randhir Kapoor.
