Bollywood Actor Saif Ali Khan
Son of a Nawab of Pataudi and India's cricket captain, and a Bollywood beauty Sharmila Tagore, this actor was a celebrity even in birth. This Bollywood actor, also called Chhote Nawab, was born on 16 August 1970. This actor went to Lawrence School Sinnawar and later attended college in England. Saif Ali Khan never used his bloodline and family fame to capture glory. He made his debut in 1992 in Parampara. The next decade was to see Saif Ali Khan struggle as an actor. Aashiq Awara was released in 1993 which earned him the Best Male Debut Award. Yet he struggled in the decade. He had a major hit in Yeh Dillagi. This was a multi starrer with Kajol and Ajay Devgan. This set up Saif Ali Khan as an actor with multistarrers such as Imtihaan, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, and Hum Saath-Saath Hain. All these movies were fair performers at the box office. Major success still eluded Saif Ali Khan. Then came the first movie of Farhan Akhtar, Dil Chahta Hai. This movie was the story of three friends played by Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna. The story tells how we can be good friends with each other while maintaining our own individual perceptions in life. The character played by Saif Ali Khan provided a lovely humorous touch to this movie. He plays the common young man of today who is in love with every girl he comes across but finally abides by his parents and settles for an arranged marriage. The love story of Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Kulkarni is very beautifully woven in this movie. It is his role which clinched the deal for Dil Chahta Hai. Saif Ali Khan won the Filmfare Award for the Best Comedian for this movie. From 2001 to 2003 the actor did some average movies. Noticeable amongst them were Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Hum Sath Sath Hain and Darna Mana Hai. Now Saif Ali Khan was fully established as a formula for success for multistarrer movies. 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' directed by Nikhil Advani was a major hit of the Bollywood actor. This lovely movie is filmed in New York. Although the story revolved around characters played by Shahrukh khan and Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan proved his acting prowess by his lovely role of an urban boy smitten by love. He won the Filmfare Supporting Actor Award for the movie Kal Ho Na Ho co-starring with Jaya Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, and Preity Zinta and special appearance by Sanjay Kapoor. He also played major role along with Arshad Warsi in "Salaam Namaste" produced by Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra ,which was one of the biggest box-office hits of 2005 in India. Saif Ali Khan had finally established himself as the key to success at the box office. After the astounding success of Kal Ho Na Ho awards and rewards followed Saif Ali Khan. His 'Hum Tum' directed by Kunal Kohli and co-starring with Rani Mukerji and Rishi Kapoor was an excellent movie for which the actor was yet again awarded the Filmfare Best Comedian Award. Uday Chopra was executive producer for this movie. Saif also won the National Film Award for the Best Actor for this movie. Parineeta was a classic love story based on a Bengali novel. Vidya Balan made her debut in this movie opposite Saif Ali Khan. This was a great family drama and a very emotional movie. The actor plays the role of lover who finally sees the injustice being done to his wife by his father and rebels against his father. Saif Ali Khan once again distinguished himself by winning the Filmfare Best Actor Award for the first time in his career. He also acted with Amitabh bachchan and Vidya Balan in hit movie Eklavy. Saif Ali Khan's Gorkhali number on the train to Darjeeling virtually made the entire North East India fall in love with him. Two other amazing movies done by the actor were Salaam Namaste and Being Cyrus. Being Cyrus was a very bold and unsual movie. Saif Ali Khan has had ups and downs in his personal life too. He married Amrita Singh in October 1991. It was a marriage of unequals since Saif Ali Khan was older than his wife by 12 years. After 13 years of marriage and having two children they divorced. The actor has dated many ladies since then. Roza Catalino was his girl friend till 2007. He is now said to be courting Kareena Kapoor. Rumours are strife about his marriage with Kareena Kapoor. Saif Ali Khan was also charged in the case for illegal hunting in Rajasthan. The charges against him have now been dropped. Besides his acting career the actor has successfully launched a thousand brands. He has been the brand ambassador to many products. He has also specialized in compering mega events like Filmfare Awards and other Bollywood shows. Saif Ali Khan has been a very versatile actor. He proved this in Omkara where he has done the role of a village don. He stunned everybody by doing this role and winning the Filmfare Award for the Best Villain. In 2008 he has a number of movies lined up. Race, Road Side Romeo and Tashan need to be watched.
