The heart throb of a million girls, this actor is one of the greatest stars of Bollywood ever. Called one of the most handsome men in the world this hunk has stood out amongst peers. He has also been chasing trouble in a vicious circle. Like his romantic endeavors his controversies are endless. The actor was born with Bollywood in his blood. He is the son of the famous screenwriter Salim, one half of the Salim Javed duo, who have written the dialogues for most successful Bollywood films. The famous dancer Helen is known to be his step mother. Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan are his brothers who are also well bollywood actors. This Bollywood hunk started his acting career with the movie Biwi Ho To Aisi. However the Salman Khan phenomena commenced only after the great love story Maine Pyar Kiya. Co starring with Bhagyashree, Salman Khan provided the much needed change to the Bollywood audiences. The movie was a roaring hit. This actor became the icon for youngsters with Maine Pyar Kiya. The Salman Khan juggernaut had started rolling. He won two awards for this movie. Salman Khan went of a film signing spree. The following years saw at least four to five movies per year. Noticeable amongst them were Sanam Bewafa and Patthar Ke Phool, Love and Saajan. He teamed up with Madhuri Dixit to form the most romantic team ever in Bollywood. Hum Apke Hai Kaun(co-starring with Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Mohnish Bahl, Satish Shah and more) a family drama can be called one of the most successful movies ever in Bollywood. Men and women of all ages fell madly in love with this movie. The delectable family drama enthralled aunties, bhabhis, devars and all possible relations in the society. The movie was also a great hit with the older generation as it depicted family traditions of the society well. This movie can be called as the major landmark in the career of this great actor. The success of Hum Apke Hai Kaun was followed by Karan Arjun in 1995. His pairing with Shahrukh Khan went very well with the audience. He competed with Shahrukh Khan in this movie for the best actor award. This was followed by a great love story Khamoshi which was again a great hit with the critics though not very successful at the box office. He also played an excellent role of a mad patient in the movie "Kyoin Ki" co-starring with Kareena Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rimi Sen and Om Puri. By now Salman had built his image. His body had too grown along with it and this boyish looking actor of Maine Pyar Kiya had bloomed into a muscular hunk like Sylvester Stallone. In every movie he posed without his shirt much to the liking of his female fans. He also played major role in hit movie Baghban along with Amitabh bachchan and Hema Malini. 1997 saw two good movies Judwaa, a great comedy loved by everyone and Auzaar. By now his fans had accepted Salman Khan as a swashbuckling tomboy. In 1998 Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya was a huge success. His role in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was very well appreciated. It earned him the best supporting actor award. 1999 brought Hum Saath Saath Hai. Biwi No 1 was a great comedy where Salman Khan manages to juggle with two wives. Then came Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam with Aishwarya Rai. This movie also set the ground for a prolonged romance between the two superstars which was the most discussed romance of Bollywood. The other movie of this period which needs a special mention is Chori Chori Chupke Chupke with Rani Mukerji. Thus by now Salman Khan had acted with almost all the leading ladies of Bollywood. He also did a great job in 2007 movie "Partner", a Bollywood film directed by David Dhawan. Songs in this movie where superhit where both Govinda and Salman danced together. He worked with Sanjay Dutt to produce the blockbuster film, Saajan. He also played a leading role in 2004 bollywood movie "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi" along with actor Akshay Kumarand actress Priyanka Chopra .This was comedy film was directed by David Dhawan and it did a great job in box office. Salman also had a film with the actor Ajay Devgan named "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" which was one of the best love triangle story. His role in the 2007 movie Salaam-E-Ishq was also appreciated. Romance has always been revolving around this actor. Sangeeta Bijlani, Somy Ali, Aishwarya Rai, Katrina Kaif the list of actresses with whom he was romantically involved in endless. His current girl friend is Katrina Kaif. Controversy. The actor also seems to be troubling trouble at every stage of his life. In 2002 he was booked for causing death by negligent driving. The next spot of trouble was when he was accused of hunting a Chinkara in Rajasthan. He was sentenced to jail for five years and later released on bail. His romance with Aishwarya Rai also was very infamous and created a lot of acrimony. It is said that the parents of the actress had to lodge a complaint in the case.
