Bollywood movie Sarkar For most of the Bollywood film fraternity Sarkar is the Bollywood replica of The Godfather. Sarkar has been directed by Ram Gopal Verma and produced by Ram Gopal Verma & Parag Sanghavi. Sarkar was released in the year 2005 and is a star studded movie with leading actors like Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Kay Kay Menon, Katrina Kaif & Tanisha playing the lead roles. This movie turned out to be one of the biggest grosser of the year 2005. This movie proved to be quite fruitful for actor Abhishek Bachchan as he won the Filmfare & Zee Cine Award for Best Supporting Actor for this movie. Subhash Nagare(Amitabh Bachchan) who is also referred to as Sarkar by his followers, he lives in the city of Mumbai. The movie begins with scenes of a father whose daughter have been a victim of rape and since he could not find appropriate justice from the law he comes to 'Sarkar' to seek justice for his pain. Subhash Nagare wastes no time in ordering his men to beat up the guilty severly. Subhash Nagare has two sons in the movie, the elder one being Vishnu (Kay Kay Menon) while the younger one is Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) who is then studying in the US. Vishnu plays the role of a badly behaved, out spoken producer who spends most his time with a film actress called Sapna (played by Nisha Kothari) instead of being with his wife. Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) is Sarkar's more upright son. On returning from the US after completing his education he brings along his love interest in the movie Pooja (Katrina Kaif). On getting to Mumbai Pooja has her doubts about the whole Sarkar image and feels that Shankar's closeness to his father could be lead to their break-up. Then it so happens that Khan (Ishrat Ali) a don from Dubai approches Sarkar to agree to a deal with which Sarkar immdiately refuses and brings to Khan's notice that he too should attempt at doing the crime. This really irritates Khan and he wants to destory the supremacy of Sarkar. For this he takes help from with the help of Sarkar's former partner, Selva Mani and also Swami Virendra. They first assassinate Motilal Khurana (Anupam Kher), who happens to be an outspoken detractor of Sarkar and also a well known righteous Ahimsa political leader. It was obvious for all to point to it being Sarkar as the person behind this shocking incident and even Vishnu was of the thought that his father was guilty. But Shankar knew it was not his father. Police arrest Sarkar and Shankar assumes his postion which Vishnu doesn't like. Incidents transpire and Sarkar let out due to no evidence against and is given a rousing welcome on home-coming. Then in a mad burst Vishu shoots dead an actor who was supposedly having an relationship with Sapna and Sarkar throws him out of the house. Vishnu cannot take this insult cool headedly. Vishnu is the approached by Sarkar's enemies who tell him to kill his own father. Meanwhile Sharkar has taken over the running of matters into his own hand and is furiously after those who were trying to eliminate his father. With the intention of murdering his father, Vishnu returns home saying that has learnt his lesson and would like to rejoin the family. Then one night he set out with a gun in his hand in an attempt to murder his father. But just he is approaching to do exactly that an alert Shankar gets hold of him and kills him. Slowly the likes of Silver Mani & Khan too are eliminated by Shankar and he establishes that there is only one Sarkar. The movie draws to a close showing Shankar donning the colors of the new 'Sarkar' while his father probably retired.
