A great comic soap on television or a sensible comic portrayal in a movie cannot be complete without our great comedy veteran actor Satish Shah. Beget and grown up in Mumbai the actor has his roots in Kutch region. A graduate from St Xavier’s college he persuaded a degree in acting from Pune. The actor is fond of all luxuries in life but particularly prefers eminence in all passions and profession. Perhaps that is the reason we don’t see him in cheap comedies. The biggest break however came with movie Jaane Bhi Do Yarron(co-starring with Naseeruddin Shah, Ravi Baswani, Pankaj Kapoor, Bhakti Barve, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Neena Gupta, Satish Kaushik, Deepak Qazir,and Om Puri), his portrayal of a dead man carried by two detectives through out the movie would still bring smile to anyone’s face. The year was perhaps written as triumphant for satish as he got mind blowing response on small screen also with his television serial Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi. His charming personality and exceptional style gives him a special place in Bollywood. The actor has every reason to feel proud of his versatile performances in smashing hits of bollywood. He has performed them all well be it a humorous portrayal of a professor in Main Hoon Na(directed by Farah Khan and produced by Gauri Khan and Shahrukh Khan and the film stars Shahrukh Khan, Sunil Shetty, Amrita Rao, Sushmita Sen, Naseeruddin Shah, Boman Irani, Rakhi Sawant and Tabu in guest appearance.), a steady family friend in Hum Aapke Hain kaun(directed by Sooraj Barjatya and starring Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Mohnish Bahl and more) or gujju father in Kal Ho Na Ho(produced by Karan Johar and co-starring with Jaya Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta and special appearance by Sanjay kapoor, Uday Chopra, Rani Mukerji and Kajol. He has worked in more than 300 movies and gave splendid acts in most of his roles. Hits or misses our charming actor has always been appreciated in Bollywood amongst other actors and actresses. He is amongst the rare actors who have a successful balanced niche in Bollywood and small screen too. As matter of fact he is most valued for his sense of humor in his character portrayal on television. Having a natural flair for acting he is quite comfortable with extremely talented actresses like ratna pathak in the serial Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai. His appearance on small screen also consists of outstanding soaps like Dekh Bhai Dekh and Filmi Chakkar. The perfect performer however does not believe in the concept of perfection as he considers all roles as exciting challenges and act naturally to give his best recital. The actor candidly admits that he finds difficult to keep track with new trends, actors and actresses but that does not affect his style and work. He claims that if he would have taken roles offered to him after Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and become typecast in similar roles. His attitude reveals his preference for quality work instead of quantity and till date he deems in this concept. He has restricted himself to six to seven films a year and may be one or two soaps. Shah aspires to be known as versatile actor and surely is steering in right direction with his charm, natural body lingo and humor. After spending several successful years in Bollywood as well as on small screen people have finally crowned him as judge of the comedy show Comedy Circus. Actress Archana puran singh acting as judge in the same show has high words of praise and appreciation for Satish’s attitude and performances. She truly admires his selective approach for contestants by being impartial to anyone for any reasons. He himself highly admires the entire concept of the show by introducing comedians and giving them a separate platform. The actor considers comedy as an art with different facets and claims that it is only the quality of content and involvement of actor that brings life to the show. He considers Johnny lever as the most talented of all comedians in Bollywood today and appreciates his individual style of acting. A gem at heart shah surely knows value of friendship and did his friends Shafi Inamdar’s serial all the best after his death. He admits that he enjoys playing distinct role and enjoyed his role with grey shades in Phir Bhi Dil hai Hindustani. The actor deem in theory of spending some and saving some in life. He sincerely claims that he does not want to live poorly and die rich, hence does not stack his schedule with loads of work. He can be seen in newer roles in his forthcoming films like Bhootnath and Dhoom dharaka. One could really fall short of words describing this versatile, brilliant actor who is well versed in his comic style and has exceptional sense of humor. He moves on in life with lows and highs perhaps his light heartedness is his best quality as an actor.
