Sunny Deol

Sunny Deol’s real name is Ajay Singh Deol. Ajay was born on 19th October 1961 in New Delhi, India. His father, Dharmendra is one of the most handsome and versatile actors to have ever graced the Indian film industry while his mother’s name is Prakash Kaur. His father later married one of Bollywood’s most beautiful actresses Hema Malini. His brother is a famous Bollywood actor, Bobby Deol. His stepsister is also a Bollywood actress of fame Esha Deol. And his cousin brother Abhay Deol, is also pursuing a career in Bollywood though without much success. From his childhood Sunny wanted to be an actor, but his father’s fame meant that those teaching him would always be in awe of him and therefore he wouldn’t be imparted the right knowledge. For this reason his father sent him to England to pursue his acting studies. He enrolled himself into the Old Web Theater in Birmingham and he took classes to learn acting and theater.

Sunny returned to India after he completed his course in England. His father like many other father’s in Bollywood do, launched him in his home production titled ‘Betaab’. The movie was released in 1983 and his co-star was actress Amrita Singh. The movie was just not a hit but a blockbuster success and his cute looks fetched him millions of female fans and also he got the nomination for best actor in a leading role from Filmfare that too in his very first movie. Things couldn’t have been better for a young actor. But then for a couple of years he couldn’t repeat the same success at the box office. His next few flicks like ‘Sunny’, Sohni Mahiwal’ and ‘Manzil Manzil’ all released in 1984 bombed at the box office and his career suffered a set back.

In 1985 came the movie ‘Arjun’ where he plays the role of a jobless youth who wants to earn his money the proper way but he had his temper right on his nose and small little things would irritate him. He soon took up with local goons and then fighting with them he too turned into a gangster carrying guns and knives. His portrayal touched many jobless youths and they all somehow connected with him, this connection made the film a hit and his portrayal of an angry young person who would take matters into his own hands made him the new age action star. The other actors in the movie were Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal, Prem Chopra and Dimple Kapadia.

In the movie Ghayal he plays the role of a boxer who comes to get his father treated in a city where is brother is already staying. The locality has some goons who trouble the people by asking for money. With cannot be seen by Sunny and he revolts and wins. It was a terrific performance.
