Bollywood Actor Tusshar Kapoor

Tusshar Kapoor

Tusshar Kapoor was born on November 20th, 1976. He is the son of famous Bollywood actor Jeetendra and his mother’s name is Shobha Kapoor. His sister is the famous Indian Television serial producer and head of ‘Balaji Telefilms’ named Ekta Kapoor. Tusshar Kapoor has done his education from the University of Michigan in the United States before he became an actor.

His Bollywood debut movie was directed by Satish Kaushik and his co-star in the movie was Bollywood sexy actress Kareena Kapoor. The film ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai’ hit the theaters in May, 2001. The movie did reasonable business at the box office and for his performance he received the Filmfare Award for Best Debut. But the next two years weren’t good for him as all the movies he acted in (some produced by his sister Ekta Kapoor) fared miserably at the box office and he was completely written off as an actor. But to his credit he hung on to the last string of hay that he could he hold on to. Just one Bollywood film in the entire span of 2 year is worth a mention and that is ‘Kucch To Hai’. This movie was released in January of 2003, this film’s theme was youth based and therefore the young people of India liked the cool and hip filming that was shown in the movie and therefore it was well received by the audiences.

It was then followed up by a more disastrous movie made by Ram Gopal Verma titled ‘Gayab’ that was released in 2004. Though people would term it as a fantasy movie where in a boy is madly obsessed with a neighborhood girl but cannot catch her attention as he is too dumb and his fixation on her is so incredible that he would even forget to pay the home electricity bill. He desperately wants some magic to happen to him so that he can get close to her. Somehow on the beach one day is able to find something that miraculously turns him invisible and then he goes in pursue of her. The movie has nothing worth mentioning and for reasons more than one Tussar would like to forget about this movie. However in the same year (2004) he acted in another movie titled ‘Khakee’. This movie has some very prominent Bollywood actors and actresses in the star cast. Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar completed the stellar star cast. The movie was a success and it gave Tusshar Kapoor a new lease of life in Bollywood.

Somehow with this success it made sense to Tussar that he was better of doing small roles in big budget movies or then act in lead roles for medium budget movies. This tactic seemed to have paid of for him. In 2005 he acted in the movie ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ co-starring with Ritesh Deshmukh, Isha Koppikar and Neha Dhupia. This movie was directed by Sangeet Sivan and producer by her sister Etka Kapoor. It was a low budget movie which was able to recover its cost at the box office. The star cast included another young actor Ritesh Deshmukh. Both the central characters come to a big city in search of making bid money and finding success, one character played by Ritesh wants to make money over night while Tusshar believes in hard work and sincerity. But both want to lead a cool life with all the luxuries that a good life has to offer. The movie was a success at the box office and things seemed to be falling in place for this young actor.

In 2007 he acted in the movie 'Kya Love Story Hai' as leading role opposite to Ayesha Takia. In 2007 his another movie ‘Shootout At Lokhandwala’ starring the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Sunil Shetty, Arbaaz Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Vivek Oberoi, Rakhi Sawant and Rohit Roy was released. The movie was a major commercial success and Tussar was more than happy to be a part of the movie. In some places the cinematography was good but at other instances it was exceptionally good.
