Bollywood Actor Vinod Mehra
Vinod Mehra was born on February 13th, 1945 in the Holy town of Amritsar, in the Northern Indian state of Punjab. Vinod Mehra made an entry into Bollywood film industry as a child artist. His first film happened to be the 1958 Kishore Kumar starrer titled ‘Raagni’, in the movie Vinod plays the role of a young Kishore Kumar. In 1960 he acted as a child actor in two more films titled ‘Bewaqoof’ and ‘Angulimala’. So as a matter of fact he had starred in 3 Bollywood movies by the time he was 15 years of age. Then he waited till 1971 when he came back as an adult actor and starred in the Bollywood flick titled ‘Lal Phattar’. And with his very first movie he was amongst a host of super stars of Bollywood cinema with the likes of the beautiful Hema Malini, Raj Kumar, Rakhee and Ajit completing the stellar star cast. In the same year he starred in the movie ‘Amar Prem’ that had Rajesh Khanna in the lead role along with Sharmila Tagore. In this movie Vinod gave a stellar performance and is even today after acting in more than a 100 Bollywood movies considered being one of his best performance. In the movie Pushpa (Sharmila Tagore) is playing the role of a girl who has been sold to a brothel by her uncle and Anand Babu (Rajesh Khanna) is not happy with his married life and upon hearing her sing goes to see her and starts liking her too. At the same time Nandu (Vinod Mehra) who is deprived of good care at home starts getting friendly with her too. But because of social taboos she cannot get to close and personal with the two off them. During his career he acted along with all the leading actors and actresses of the time, be it Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Rajesh Khanna or Sanjeev Kumar and his favorite 2 actresses happened to be Bindiya Goswami & Rekha. Well here is where it gets interesting for the gossip grapevine, Vinod is said to have got 3 times and the 4th has never been confirmed. His 1st marriage took place with a girl that his mother chose from him. Her name was Meena Broca and just a short time after marriage Vinod suffered a heart attack and once he recovered he married Bindiya Goswami with who he had starred as a successful pair in many Bollywood film. The marriage took place when he was still married to Meena Broca, hearing this Meena left him and went back to her parents. But the Bindiya-Vinod marriage didn’t last to long either and they amicably divorced. Then it is said that he married the Bollywood bombshell Rekha but this has never been officially notified and Rekha has openly dismissed such reports. His last marriage took place with Kiran and they where inseparable till his death at the age of 45 in the year 1990. Vinod was never to be a top class actor, but he did his job well to be recognized as a famed Bollywood actor. Due to his untimely death there were many movies that had to be halted as he was acting in them. One of them happened to be his directorial debut, which he was also producing, titled ‘Gurudev’ starring Rishi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor and Sridevi too. After his death director Raj Sippy complete the remaining part of the movie while his wife took over the mantle of producing the movie and 3 years after his death the movie released to packed houses but did not do well at the box office.
