Bollywood Movie Viruddh
Viruddh is a Bollywood movie that released in 2005 and has been directed by Mahesh Manjrekar who also directed the award-winning movie ‘Vaastav’. The producer of this movie is Amitabh Bachachan who also happens to play a pivotal role in this movie. This movie has a stellar star cast in Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Sanjay Dutt, John Abraham, Anusha Dhandekar & Prem Chopra. This is few of the recent Bollywood movies not to have the usual to have routine song and dance sequences.
This movie has such a simple storyline that if one were to narrate it then its about a father who loses his son who was killed trying to save some else’s and his struggle for justice but when you see the movie it shows you can entire story of what parents of children who die under any circumstances have to go through, the ordeal that they faced with has been greatly shown in the later stages of the movie. So wonderful is the acting’s of Amitabh Bachchan & Sharmila Tagore that as if they presenting their whole experiences of the acting career’s onto the screen.
The movie starts by showing a happy Vidyadhar Patwardhan (Amitabh Bachchan) living a pleasant life with is much beloved wife Sumitra (Sharmila Tagore). Their son Amar (John Abraham) is working abroad in London, UK. Vidyadhar Patwardhan & Amar are the best for friends and their relationship one of mutual respect and great friendship. Amar is returning to India and is bringing along with him his UK girlfriend Jenny (Anusha Dhandekar) to introduce her to his parents. Amar tells his father of the same but is unsure of his mother accepting Jenny as her daughter-in-law, so he pleads his father to keep it a secret and not to bring Sumitra to the airport. Vidyadhar Patwardhan some how manages to not take to Sumitra to the airport, but on arriving home Sumitra gets to meet Jenny on the door, after some deliberations Sumitra accepts Jenny in the house to the jubilation of all. Everything is going fine; they are in agreement to get the new couple married off and so start the shopping and as a whole there is lot of good humor in the family.
Amar is back and is catching up with old friend and on time, soon Amar’s birthday arrives. He goes with his friends to party at a discotheque while his parents & Jenny prepare for a surprise birthday bash for him back home. Once the party is over, Amar and his friends are about to leave the nightclub when suddenly there is a noise of a gunshot and some brat of an influential official kills a person in trying to get him under control Amar loses his life as well as he too is shot by the same person. His friends’ make a phone call to Amar’s home to inform that Amar has been shot is in a serious condition on reaching the hospital Vidyadhar Patwardhan finds his son is breathing his lasts breaths. Upon his death the family is broke and filled with remorse.
During this time Ali Asgar (Sanjay Dutt) comes in and sets his garage right in front of their home and the constant car & bike repair work rob the two senior citizen of their peace, Vidyadhar Patwardhan repeatedly light heartedly them to reduce the decibel but to no avail. Vidyadhar Patwardhan flies a case against his son’s murderer, Harshwardhan Kadam (Amitabh Dayal) but at the end of it Vidyadhar Patwardhan loses the case. Vidyadhar Patwardhan finally decides to take a different route to prove his son’s innocence after being labeled a drug dealer. He takes a voice recorder and reaches Harshwardhan Kadam plush office and speaks to him, Harshwardhan ignorantly speaks all truth bluntly after which Vidyadhar Patwardhan shows Harshwardhan that he has got the evidence he needs to prove his son’s innocence. Harshwardhan gets tensed up fearing this might lead to his bad date. There is a fight in which Vidyadhar Patwardhan mistakenly kills Harshwardhan and feels he has his revenge.
